Description

Enrofloxacin belongs to the group of quinolones and has bactericidal action against mainly Gram-negative bacteria, like Campylobacter spp., E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp. and Mycoplasma spp.

Indications

Gastrointestinal infections, respiratory infections and urinary tract infections caused by enrofloxacin-sensitive microorganisms, like Campylobacter spp., E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Mycoplasma spp., Pasteurella spp. and Salmonella spp. in calves, sheep, goats, swine and poultry.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to enrofloxacin.

Administration to animals with a seriously impaired renal and/or hepatic function.

Administration to poultry producing eggs for human consumption.

Administration to pregnant or lactating animals.

Concurrent administration of tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides and lincosamides.

Side Effects

Administration to young animals during growth can cause cartilage lesions in joints.

Dosage

For oral administration.

Calves, sheep and goats:

Twice daily 10 ml per 75 - 150 kg body weight for 3 - 5 days.

Swine:

1 litre per 1000 - 3000 litres of drinking water for 3 - 5 days.

Poultry:

1 litre per 1500 - 2000 litres of drinking water for 3 - 5 days.

Note: for pre-ruminant calves, lambs and kids only.

Withdrawal Times

- For meat: 12 days.

Not for use in poultry producing eggs for human consumption.
